Special Officer’s Role in Managing Trinamool Bank Accounts Extended to 2027

A decree issued by Justice Sougata Bhatta‑Charya on July 9 confirmed that a court‑appointed special officer would continue to oversee the three bank accounts of the Mamata‑led Trinamool faction. The order restricts the party’s discretionary spending while allowing the officer to disburse funds for daily operational costs and staff salaries.

The court’s directive states that the special officer’s authority will remain in effect until January 29, 2027. During this period, the faction may not make large‑scale expenditures without explicit court approval.

The decision came after West Bengal police froze the accounts on allegations of illegal transactions. The special officer’s oversight is intended to safeguard the accounts while still enabling the party to meet its basic financial obligations.

The ruling also noted that the Election Commission’s recent freeze of the “All India Trinamool Congress” name and its original flower‑and‑grass symbol does not alter the court’s order concerning the management of the frozen accounts.
