Special Narcotics Drive Yields 1.15kg Smack, Cash and Vehicle

PATNA — As part of a focused anti‑drug campaign, the city’s law‑enforcement agencies seized more than a kilogram of smokeless tobacco and apprehended three individuals on Thursday. The haul included 1,715 sachets of smack, an auto rickshaw used for its conveyance, and cash totaling INR 4,298.

The Western Zone Police Commissioner, Sanket Kumar, highlighted that the raid was the outcome of a secret informant’s warning about a mobile drug‑selling operation. A combined team from Neura police, the District Information Unit and senior officers of the Danapur‑2 subdivision conducted an intensive vehicle inspection close to Madhupur bridge.

Upon stopping the auto, officers discovered five black polyethylene bags concealed in the passenger compartment. The bags contained the seized smack, which was weighed at 1.151 kilograms.

The suspects, identified as Roma Kumari and Khushi Kumari of Buddha Colony and driver Mithilesh Kumar of Masaurhi, have been placed under custody. Formal charges under the NDPS Act have been filed, and the auto and cash have been confiscated as evidence.

Investigators are now mapping the supply chain to determine the origins of the drug and its intended distribution points. Further arrests are expected as the police continue to trace additional links in the network.
