Special Investigation Team Extends Judicial Custody for Vijayawada Police Accused
The judicial system in Andhra Pradesh has approved extended custody for six police officers connected to the mysterious death of Sai Krishna. After Babu Rao and Sambayya were presented before the Second ACM Court, the magistrate ordered a 14‑day detention period, sending them to separate correctional facilities.
The SIT’s latest briefing highlighted that the alleged primary perpetrator, Circle Inspector Nagrajulu, was apprehended on June 23 and granted judicial custody until July 8. Parallel investigations are probing allegations that senior officers deliberately concealed the victim’s injuries, leading to his death, and destroyed surveillance recordings to impede the inquiry.
Senior officials from the Western Godavari Police Department, the District Superintendent of Police, and additional SPs have been enlisted as part of the investigative panel, underscoring the high‑level attention this case has attracted across the state’s law‑enforcement hierarchy.
