Speaker urged to stop selective release of assembly footage, says BJP MLA

Bengaluru, 24 August – R. Ashok, a senior BJP figure in the Karnataka Assembly, has petitioned Speaker G.S. Patil to halt what he describes as selective dissemination of assembly proceedings. The letter states that from 13 August onward, the media has consistently received video, photo and statement material from the chief minister, ministers and ruling legislators, but the same material from opposition members is being withheld. This, Ashok argues, skews public perception in favor of the government. He requests immediate corrective instructions to the Information Department and warns that a breach of privilege motion will be pursued if the disparity continues. The demand comes as the opposition intensifies scrutiny of the state government's decisions during the ongoing monsoon session.
