Speaker Orders Full-Day Suspension of Lok Sabha Due to Raucous Outcry

New Delhi, July 21 – In a dramatic turn on Tuesday, the Lok Sabha was put on hold for the entire day after opposition members created a raucous atmosphere with constant slogans. Speaker Dileep Saikia appealed multiple times for order, urging MPs to occupy their seats and observe Rule 377, yet the protest persisted.

The inability to restore calm led to a third stoppage of the day's agenda. The house is scheduled to restart its work on Wednesday at 11 a.m., giving all parties a platform for debate.

Earlier, Speaker Om Birla had already paused the session until lunchtime, pleading with members to allow parliamentary business to proceed. The opposition's continued uproar forced another suspension announcement by Speaker Sandhya Rai.

When the afternoon session attempted to move forward, opposition chants continued to obstruct the debate, prompting a repeat adjournment. Similar disruptions have plagued the monsoon session previously, stemming from demands related to exam paper leaks and a rally at Delhi's Jantar‑Mantar.
