Speaker Highlights Need for Collaborative Conduct After SP MLA Mishap

Satish Mahana, the Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, reflected on the recent expulsion of SP MLA Sachin Yadav. Mahana had expected Yadav, an educated representative, to uphold higher standards of behavior. Instead, Yadav refused to lower the Chief Minister’s picture after being instructed, provoking Mahana’s disappointment.

Mahana stressed that the assembly’s prestige is not a personal concern but a right of all members. He called Yadav’s defiance a breach of parliamentary privilege and reiterated that such actions undermine the sanctity of the house. The Speaker concluded by stating that he remains open to hearing legitimate concerns, provided they are presented respectfully.
