Space sector reforms urged as ISRO partners with private players

Addressing criticism over the growing privatization of the space ecosystem, Dr. Narayanan stressed that a robust space economy cannot rely on ISRO alone. "India currently operates 56 satellites, but the demand is for hundreds. Government reforms aimed at liberalising the sector are essential, and ISRO is ready to support these initiatives," he said.

He called for coordinated efforts to develop a thriving space supply chain, urging both public and private stakeholders to collaborate. According to the chief, a healthy ecosystem will ensure that satellite manufacturing, launch services, and downstream applications expand rapidly across the nation.
