SP Demands Fair Trial for Azam Khan Amid Alleged Political Pressure

Samajwadi Party national spokesperson Amik Jameei appealed to the judiciary for an impartial hearing in the Azam Khan case on Saturday. Khan, sentenced to two years for an unrestricted comment on a district magistrate, has already spent more than five years behind bars.

Jameei asserted that the Uttar Pradesh legal system is under administrative strain, which hampers the delivery of justice. He expressed confidence that once political interference subsides, Khan will receive the relief he seeks.

The spokesperson also tackled the broader issue of communal harmony, stating that the current atmosphere of fear and division is contrary to India’s progress. He praised the solidarity shown by Muslim citizens during the nation's stand against Pakistan, aligning them with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the armed forces.

In his remarks, Jameei condemned the BJP’s recent attempts to divert public attention through a series of new controversies, ranging from comments on demographic balance to accusations against opposition parties. He urged the government to prioritize peace, brotherhood, and inclusive development over polarizing politics.
