Sonipat to Host Global Dialogue: JGU's World Ideas Forum 2027

Sonipat, October 31

A new international platform is coming to Sonipat. OP Jindal Global University (JGU) has announced its first World Ideas Forum, scheduled for January 23 to 25, 2027, on its campus. The launch is timed to mark 60 years since Haryana was formed.

JGU, which holds the distinction of being Haryana's first and only Institution of Eminence, describes the forum as an annual global conference. The event carries the theme “Where the World Ideas Meet.”

The gathering will bring together public figures, academics, industry professionals, scientists, technologists, artists and members of civil society. The aim is to create a space where they can exchange ideas and explore answers to the defining challenges of the present day.

Haryana came into being on November 1, 1966, and is now entering its seventh decade. The university views this as a moment to consider past accomplishments and the possibilities that lie ahead.

The World Ideas Forum is presented as JGU's contribution to the state's next chapter. By bringing global voices to Sonipat, the university hopes to strengthen Haryana's role in knowledge, creativity, international dialogue and intellectual exchange.

The initiative also envisions a Sonipat that welcomes the world and influences global discussions. It links an important historical milestone for the state with ongoing investment in its future.

Naveen Jindal, Founder Chancellor and Patron of OP Jindal Global University, said the 60th anniversary was an occasion to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit, determination and aspirations of Haryana's people. He also called it a time to set new goals for the future.

He highlighted the state's leadership in agriculture, industry and sports as strong foundations for growth in education, innovation and knowledge.

The forum's agenda will include keynote addresses, leadership dialogues, fireside chats, public lectures, literary discussions, book launches and cultural performances. Innovation and startup exhibitions, student debates, policy simulations and displays in art, music, theatre and design are also planned.

JGU has framed the forum as a long-term institutional effort. Proposed initiatives include the World Ideas Lecture, World Ideas Award, World Ideas Book Prize, Global Young Ideas Fellowship, India Ideas Lecture, Future Leaders Dialogue and Global Universities Roundtable. The university also plans to publish a World Ideas Declaration, a JGU Global Futures Report and a World Ideas Index.
