Sonia Gandhi’s memoir and Babri Masjid cited by Maulana Razvi in political critique
Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi turned his attention to national politics by referencing the recently published memoir of Sonia Gandhi. He described the book as a detailed personal account that covers the assassinations of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi, the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid, and the author’s emotional reaction to those events.
According to Razvi, Sonia Gandhi spent an entire night weeping when she learned of the Babri Masjid demolition, a reaction that, he claimed, reflects her empathy for minorities and a sense of justice. The cleric used this anecdote to underline his own concern for communal harmony and the safety of minority groups in India.
He concluded that such personal testimonies from senior political figures should inspire a collective commitment to peace, urging all communities to live together without sectarian conflict, focusing on business and everyday life.
