How Solar Sujala Yojana Is Transforming Farming in Dhamtari
Dhamtari, November 1: The Solar Sujala Yojana, one of the Centre's schemes aimed at making farmers self-reliant and progressive, is proving useful for cultivators in Chhattisgarh. In Dhamtari district, farmers are using the scheme to change the way they farm.
Farmer Indresh Ghate is a clear example of this change. He explained that he once had to rely on expensive electricity for irrigation. Now, with solar energy powering his fields, his farming costs have fallen.
Ghate said that after solar pumps were installed, water can now be supplied to fields at any time during the day. This has given him relief from electricity costs and made the task of irrigation far easier.
The scheme has lowered his cost of farming and helped him raise his income, he said. Irrigation through solar power is also beneficial for the environment.
Ghate thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the initiative, saying it has helped farmers become self-reliant. According to him, the scheme is bringing happiness and prosperity to the lives of farmers. Through it, farmers in Dhamtari are making agriculture simpler and cheaper by adopting solar energy.
In an interview with IANS, Ghate said, “I farm on five acres of land. Earlier, I had to depend on electricity for irrigation, which led to very large bills. After I learned about the Solar Sujala Yojana, I installed solar panels in my fields. I am now free from electricity bills, and my income has doubled.”
He added, “Since PM Modi took charge, many welfare schemes for farmers have been started, and we are getting direct benefits from them. I express my gratitude to him for giving the country a new identity. The country is making great progress under his leadership.”
