Governor Patel Calls for Societal Light Inspired by Lord Rama at Diwali
Delhi – At the grand Diwali ceremony held in Ayodhya’s Ramkatha Park, Governor Anoodiben Patel appealed to the crowd to let the teachings of Lord Rama guide the nation’s conscience. She declared that the greatest power lies in duty, the highest honor in responsibility and the most valuable asset in character, echoing the timeless message that Rama embodied.
Amid a radiant canopy of oil‑lamps shimmering over the sacred Sarayu, the Governor observed that Ayodhya has transformed into a living center of faith where every particle of earth carries the aura of Rama‑hood. The event featured a symbolic arrival of Rama, Sita and Lakshman in a richly decorated Pushpak Vimana, followed by an emotional reunion with Bharat and a ritual worship that culminated in a ceremonial coronation reminiscent of the ancient Ram‑Rajya.
Patel stressed that Ram‑Rajya is more than an ideal of governance; it is a blueprint for a society built on justice, equality, compassion and collective welfare. She recalled how the epics of Valmiki and Tulsidas spread Rama’s virtues to every doorstep, making the deity a pillar of India’s social and cultural unity.
She highlighted the economic ripple effect of the growing pilgrim footfall: new hotels, dharamshalas, transport links, eateries, handicraft markets and flower‑garland businesses are generating limitless employment for local families. The city’s traditional Ramlila, folk arts, music and cuisine are now gaining a national and international platform.
Connecting the festival’s luminous symbolism to environmental stewardship, Governor Patel urged citizens to protect the pristine waters of the Sarayu, adopt waste‑free habits, plant trees and conserve water. She called for a lifestyle where cleanliness and ecological responsibility become as natural as lighting a lamp.
The Governor reminded listeners that the purpose of governance is to bring light to those standing at the lowest rung of society. Programs such as Housing for All, Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala, Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat are designed to deliver security, comfort and dignity to the marginalized. She noted that in the past decade, 250 million Indians have escaped poverty, marking a historic achievement.
Celebrating India’s scientific progress, Patel praised the success of Chandrayaan‑3, the upcoming Aditya‑L1 mission and the thriving ecosystem of over 400 space startups, which showcase the nation’s self‑reliance in high‑technology. She encouraged the youth to adopt Rama’s discipline, leadership and perseverance while creating new frontiers in space and innovation.
Concluding, Patel pledged that the nation will safeguard every child’s education, empower every girl’s dreams, support every senior citizen, and nurture love and harmony within society. She affirmed that the true spirit of Diwali lies in sharing one’s light to inspire hope in others.
