Smart warehouses and updated beneficiary database prioritized in Bihar PDS overhaul
Bihar’s Public Distribution System is set for a major upgrade, according to Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. In a detailed briefing with Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, the state outlined plans to modernise grain storage facilities and create a unified, constantly refreshed beneficiary registry.
The proposed smart warehouses will feature automated inventory management, temperature controls and backup power to preserve the quality of essential food grains. Simultaneously, the administration will launch a state‑wide data‑integration drive to capture the latest socio‑economic information of every ration card holder.
The CM directed all district authorities to monitor the distribution network closely, ensuring that supplies reach even the most remote villages without interruption. He also highlighted the importance of aligning state actions with the central government’s recommendations for faster achievement of set goals.
These initiatives aim to make the PDS more accountable, reduce pilferage and guarantee that the benefits of the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana are felt by every eligible household in Bihar.
