Smart PDS Portal Enables Online Applications for New Ration Cards
Shekhpura district has introduced an online route for applicants to obtain new ration cards through the Smart PDS portal. The digital platform is part of the "Mission Ration Card" initiative launched on July 18, which seeks to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles for the needy.
During a review meeting chaired by senior officer Lakhdhir Paswan, officials from various departments highlighted the portal's role in streamlining the application process. Applicants can now submit their details, upload required documents, and track the status of their request entirely online.
The campaign aims to issue 6,258 new cards by August 13, averaging 209 cards per day. With a total eligible count of 5,34,385 beneficiaries and 5,07,790 already covered, the remaining 26,595 families can benefit from the online system, reducing the need for repeated visits to government offices.
Block‑specific daily targets remain unchanged, but the portal offers a convenient way for residents across Ariari, Barbiga, Chevada, Ghatakushumba, Shekhpura, and Shekhopursarai blocks to apply.
The move aligns with the state Food and Consumer Protection Department’s directive to modernise the public distribution system and improve accessibility for all.
