Six Survey Crews Assigned to Assess Water Shortage in Karnataka

Bengaluru, July 24 — Ahead of the state’s monsoon legislative session, Karnataka’s BJP unit has set up six investigative crews tasked with a full‑scale review of drought‑affected areas. The parties have been given a deadline of July 31 to compile and hand over their findings.

The fieldwork will involve visits to the most impacted districts, taluks and villages where water scarcity threatens agricultural output and daily life. Crews will record the condition of crops, note drinking‑water challenges for humans and livestock, and measure the current levels in dams and reservoirs.

Team 1, responsible for Tumakuru, Kolara, Chickballapur and Bengaluru Rural, is headed by B.Y. Vijayendra. The roster also includes Jyoti Ganesh, Suresh Gaura, Dheeraj Muniraju, Chidanand Gaura, Dr. Y.A. Narayanaswamy, S. Muniswamy and Venkata Muniyappa. Coordination for this team falls to B. Yatrangegauda.

Team 2 will cover Vijayanagar, Ballari, Gadag, Davanagere and Chitradurga. Its leaders are Janardan Reddy, Bhairathi Basavaraj, C.C. Patil, M. Chandrappa, B.P. Harish, Krishna Nayak, Chandru Lamani, Prof. S.V. Sankanuur and Y.M. Satish, with K.S. Naveen as coordinator.

Team 3 focuses on Chamraj Nagar, Mysuru, Ramanagara and Mandya. The team is led by Chalwadi Narayanaswamy, T.S. Shrivatsa, Raghhu Kautilya, S. Keshavprasad, H.S. Gopinath Reddy and N. Mahesh, while N.V. Fanish handles coordination.

Team 4 surveys Bengaluru, Udupi, Shimoga, Chikkamagalur, Kodagu and Hassan. Members include Araga Gyanendra, V. Sunil Kumar, Gururaj Gantihole, Kiran Kumar Koddhi, Yashpal Suvarna, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Harish Poonja, Umanath Kotyan, Dr. Y. Bharat Shetty, Vedvyas Kamat, Rajesh Nayak, Bhagirthi Murlaya, Cement Manjunath, H.K. Suresh, Channabappa, M.K. Pranesha, Suja Kushalappa and Dr. Dhananjay Sargi, coordinated by D.S. Arun.

Team 5 will operate in Bidar, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur and Yadgir. The panel consists of C.T. Ravi, Bhagwan Khuba, Umesh Jadhav, Dodna Gaura Patil, Prabhu Chauhan, Sharanu Salagar, Siddhu Patil, Dr. Shailendra Belde, Dr. Shivraj Patil, Manappa D. Vajjal, Basavaraj Matimud, Dr. Avinash Jadhav, Hemlata, B.G. Patil, Shashil Namoshi, Dr. M.G. and Amresh Naik.

Team 6 covers Bellagi, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Hubli, Haveri and Uttara Kannada. Its leadership includes N. Ravikumar, Murugesh Nirani, Aravind Beladi, Siddhu Sawadi, Abhay Patil, Balachandra Jarakiholi, Ramesh Jarakiholi, Shashikala Jola, Mahesh Narial, Vitthal Halgekar, Duryodhan Aihol, Dinkar Shetty, Jagdish Gudganti, M.R. Patil, Nikhil Talwar, P.H. Purohit, Hanumanth Nirani, Pradeep Shettar, Ganapati Ulvekar and Lingraj Patil, with Basavaraj Yankanchi as the coordinator.
