Sirsah Calls for BJP Intervention as Punjab’s Drug Crisis Deepens Under AAP Rule

Manjinder Singh Sirsah, Delhi’s minister for industry, environment, food supply, forest and wildlife, issued a scathing critique of the AAP government in Punjab on October 16. Using the X platform, he warned that the state’s escalating drug problem is being nurtured by political protection.

He highlighted two high‑profile killings: Parvinder Singh Jhoṭa, an anti‑drug activist murdered in Mansa, and Bikramjit Singh, a 40‑year‑old campaigner slain in Gurdraspur. According to Sirsah, the absence of swift justice for these cases reflects a deliberate strategy to intimidate drug‑free movements.

“The Kejriwal‑Mann duo has handed Punjab to the drug mafia,” Sirsah wrote, adding that the region has turned into a “den of narcotics and syringes.” He also mentioned the heartbreaking situation in Dirba, where political pressure allegedly pushed grieving fathers to commit suicide.

Concluding his message, Sirsah echoed Home Minister Amit Shah’s promise, insisting that only the BJP can dismantle the criminal alliance, eradicate the drug trade, and restore safety and peace to Punjab’s streets.
