Rawat urges single inquiry commission instead of fragmented probes

Harish Rawat emphasized that the numerous investigations launched during election cycles have diluted the focus on potential misconduct. He suggested the formation of one judicial commission empowered to review every decision taken during his eight‑year tenure.

According to Rawat, a unified commission would examine allegations of financial impropriety, misuse of power, and any other irregularities in a single, transparent process. He argued that this approach would prevent selective scrutiny and ensure that any findings are comprehensive.

The former chief minister said he does not shy away from accountability. "If any wrongdoing occurred, it must be brought to light during the commission’s work," he stated.

Rawat warned that a thorough, all‑encompassing review could set a precedent, encouraging more disciplined conduct among politicians in Uttarakhand and beyond.
