Ahmedabad’s traffic warriors have scored a major win at Pirana Junction, ditching traffic signals for a free-flow system amid bridge works that once turned the spot into a gridlock hotspot. The Ahmedabad Traffic Police’s creative overhaul is already winning hearts and saving hours.
Here’s how it works: The entry cut from Pirana People’s Road is sealed, with drivers now taking a U-turn 100 meters further on Narol-Sarkhej Road to cross over. Vehicles glide through without halting, a game-changer for peak-hour chaos.
‘It’s like a weight lifted off our shoulders,’ said resident Sajid, recounting years of frustration from endless jams. Sachin Desani added, ‘Daily backups are history; this U-turn fix keeps traffic humming smoothly.’
Beyond commuter joy, the change speeds up infrastructure projects while cutting fuel waste and delays. DCP Naresh Kanjaria noted the strategic shift: ‘This closure has organized flow brilliantly, with jams down noticeably.’
The Pirana blueprint is set for citywide rollout. With CM Bhupendra Patel steering efforts, new flyovers and corridors aim to banish congestion and elevate transit efficiency. Ahmedabad’s roads are on track for a smoother future.
