Shopian Police Attach Property Worth Over 16 Lakh Rupees Linked to Narcotics Trade

Shopian district law‑enforcement officials have officially attached a residential property valued at more than 16 lakh rupees, which was purchased using money earned from drug trafficking. The house stands on a 1,065‑square‑foot parcel in Melhora village and is registered to Farooq Ahmed Shah. Alongside the real‑estate attachment, police seized 473,500 rupees in cash. The action was taken under Section 68‑F(1) of the NDPS Act, stemming from an FIR registered at Jnapora police station. A legally constituted police team, an executive magistrate, a senior constable and a watchman supervised the process to ensure adherence to all legal formalities. Officials highlighted that the crackdown on narcotics will continue, focusing on both smugglers and the financial gains derived from their illegal activities.
