Lucknow’s law enforcers turned the tables on a wanted thief late at night in Krishnanagar, capturing a Rs 25,000 bounty fugitive following a heated gun battle. The incident occurred close to Duda Colony on Mansangar Road near Asharam Colony, as police conducted checks based on tips of criminal activity.

A suspicious youth caught the team’s eye during the patrol. When hailed to halt, he fled on foot, tripped, and desperately fired at the pursuing officers. Retaliatory shots from police struck his leg, neutralizing the threat without harming any personnel.

The man, Vipin from Unnao, has a lengthy rap sheet boasting more than 20 FIRs in Lucknow for theft, looting, and Gangster Act violations. February saw him implicated in high-profile burglaries in the same neighborhood, prompting an exhaustive review of 500 CCTV clips and digital traces.

Prior to this bust, one gang member was imprisoned, leaving Vipin and Kuldeep Yadav—both with Rs 25,000 rewards—on the run. Kuldeep remains elusive amid ongoing police pursuits.

Seized items included a tamancha pistol, ammunition, faux gold jewelry, and a Pulsar bike, likely proceeds from recent heists. Authorities hail the encounter as a major breakthrough in tackling serial offenders plaguing residential areas.
