Senior Police Officials Lead Flag March Through Gosha Mahal, Begum Bazaar

Hyderabad’s law‑enforcement agencies launched a Flag March on September 17 to pre‑empt any disturbances during the Ganesh festival and the immersion rally slated for September 25. The march, conducted with the Rapid Action Force, focused on the Gosha Mahal and Begum Bazaar police precincts—both identified as sensitive and densely populated.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) J. Raghavendra Reddy headed the convoy, accompanied by RAF troops and local officers. The route traced a strategic path from Namapalli Exhibition Ground, threading through Patel Nagar, Darussalam, Chakanwari, Lambigali, Ghode Ki Khabar, Jhansi Chowk and ending at the Jumerat Bazar T‑junction.

Inspector B. Shravan Kumar of Gosha Mahal police station explained that the march deliberately covered areas with heavy footfall and the intended immersion procession corridors. The objective was to raise public awareness about maintaining peace, communal harmony and law‑and‑order throughout the celebrations.

Senior police leadership, together with local officers and RAF personnel, displayed a strong security presence to assure citizens that the festival would proceed without incident. Organisers of Ganesh pandals and participants in the immersion parade have been urged to follow the prescribed route, respect traffic regulations and avoid any actions that could spark unrest.

About 20,000 police officers will be on standby for the Ganesh immersion procession. In a pre‑emptive measure, Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, along with senior officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and the Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency, inspected the 19‑kilometre immersion path from Balapur to Tank Bund to verify safety preparations.
