Self‑Reliance Drive Boosts Defence Production, Exports Ahead of Targets

Singh detailed the economic impact of the self‑reliance drive, noting that fiscal year 2025‑26 saw annual defence production reach roughly ₹1.78 lakh crore, a sharp rise from the ₹40,000 crore level in 2014. Export earnings surged from ₹686 crore in 2013‑14 to a historic ₹38,000 crore.

He outlined future ambitions: crossing ₹2 lakh crore in production this year, aiming for ₹3 lakh crore by 2029, and taking defence exports to ₹50,000 crore within the same horizon. Singh expressed confidence that, given the current trajectory, these benchmarks are well within reach.
