Self‑Enumeration Begins for 2027 Census in Tambaram Municipality

The first segment of India’s 2027 Census has been launched in Tambaram by the city’s municipal corporation. Residents can use smartphones, tablets or computers to enter their personal and family information on the official portal between July 17 and July 31. After completing the online form, an eleven‑digit SE ID is issued via SMS or email; families are advised to keep this number handy for verification visits. Simultaneously, 1,483 enumerators and 243 supervisors are being mobilised to carry out house‑listing from August 1 through August 30, ensuring every residential and commercial address in the corporation’s area is recorded. The municipality has organised the survey into 1,483 blocks, each containing roughly 150‑200 households, allowing field staff to validate digital submissions and collect details from non‑digital respondents. Officials warned that misleading data or tampering with census symbols is a punishable offence. The final counting exercise, slated for February 2027, will follow the completion of house‑listing and housing‑census activities nationwide.
