Security tight as Mamata Banerjee leaves Shyam Bazar after chant backlash

Following a brief yet tense episode at the Shyam Bazar five‑road crossing, Mamata Banerjee was escorted by a substantial police contingent after BJP activists shouted hostile slogans. The chants, limited to "thief" and "go back", were linked to a prior protest in Kanchrapana where BJP members clashed with the family of a deceased Congress worker. State Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari had earlier assured that Banerjee’s security would not be compromised. The law‑enforcement teams managed the crowd quickly, enabling the former chief minister to depart the site.
