Security Sweep Finds No Explosive on Diversioned IndiGo Aircraft

Security forces in Ahmedabad concluded a detailed inspection of an IndiGo flight that was diverted on September 10 after a bomb threat was reported. The aircraft, bearing the number 6E097 and bound for Dammam, had landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at roughly 5:45 p.m. following the discovery of a paper slip with the word “bomb” in the cabin.

All 133 passengers and crew members were safely escorted off the plane. Police, the Central Industrial Security Force and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad worked together to examine the aircraft, scanning every compartment and the baggage hold.

The joint effort uncovered no suspicious items, explosives, or any evidence to substantiate the warning. Authorities have stated that the investigation into the source of the threat remains ongoing.

The incident follows a comparable situation on August 31, when an Air India Express service from Dammam to New Delhi also made an emergency landing in Ahmedabad after a crew member found a threatening note. That episode was later determined to be a hoax.

These events are occurring amid a series of bomb threats reported in Gujarat over the past few weeks, including those directed at courts in Ahmedabad and Surat. While police have conducted extensive search operations, many of the alerts have been dismissed as false.
