Security Sweep After Drone-like Objects Halted Operations at Amritsar Airport
Security forces at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport conducted an urgent sweep on Sunday night after CISF personnel reported seeing two to three unidentified, drone‑resembling objects over the Rajsansi sector. The objects’ erratic movement raised alarms, leading to a temporary suspension of inbound traffic.
Consequently, three commercial flights—Air India AI‑855, Indigo 6E‑5028, and Malaysia Airlines MH‑118—were instructed to divert. The Air India service returned to Delhi, the Indigo flight was redirected to Chandigarh, and the Malaysia Airlines jet was sent toward Delhi.
After confirming the runway was clear and completing a thorough security review, the airport resumed normal flight operations. The incident adds to an earlier drone sighting reported in August, prompting airport authorities to reinforce surveillance measures.
