Security Sweep Clears Jharsuguda Court After Threatening Bomb Email

A bomb threat delivered by e‑mail to the district judge forced the complete evacuation of Jharsuguda District Court complex on July 17. Law enforcement agencies, bomb disposal units, fire brigades and anti‑sabotage teams followed a predefined emergency protocol, moving judges, lawyers, court employees and case participants to designated safe locations. Specially trained bomb squads conducted a room‑by‑room inspection, while a dog squad assisted in detecting any hidden explosives.

The incident mirrors a series of recent e‑mail threats aimed at judicial institutions across the country. Earlier on July 13, high court benches in Jaipur and Jodhpur, Rajasthan, received identical warnings, and a district magistrate’s office in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, was also targeted. In each case, rapid deployment of police, bomb disposal teams, fire services and anti‑sabotage units neutralised potential risks.

Using modern detection equipment and canine expertise, the Jharsuguda security teams examined every floor, office space, attic and peripheral structure. Their comprehensive search yielded no explosive material or suspicious objects, allowing the court to resume operations after a brief but serious security alert.
