The inaugural convoy of the Amarnath Yatra 2026 departed from Bhagwati Nagar pilgrim residence under vigilant surveillance by armed forces. The two caravans, carrying a combined total of 4,822 pilgrims, split between the Nunwan (Pahalgam) and Balital (Ganderbal) base camps.
Authorities highlighted the deployment of "helping hand" assistance booths, emergency response teams, and continuous police presence to ensure uninterrupted travel and rapid aid if required.
Leaders from the state’s food and transport ministry, senior police officials, and local administrators met the pilgrims at Balital, offering blessings for a secure, tranquil, and spiritually fruitful journey.
