Tight Security Deployed as Delhi Awaits CJPM Rally
In preparation for a large‑scale protest organized by the CJP (M) party, the Chief Election Commissioner directed the cancellation of several train services passing through New Delhi on Saturday. The measure, aimed at avoiding any logistical clashes, has left many travelers scrambling.
Passengers narrated a range of difficulties. A Lucknow‑bound traveler discovered his train had been pulled from the schedule and, after failing to find a replacement, considered a bus ride. A commuter from Gujarat, holding a ticket to Delhi, attempted to switch to a local service at Nizamuddin for onward travel to Ghaziabad, only to find the station empty of connecting trains. This forced him to return to the city by rickshaw and continue his journey by road.
Conversely, a few scheduled services arrived at Hazrat Nizamuddin on time, with passengers noting that the presence of police and rapid‑action forces provided a sense of security. Initial concerns about possible detention were eased as officials allowed a smooth passage.
Security arrangements are robust. Delhi Police, supported by the Rapid Action Force, have deployed personnel at all major stations. Patrols are conducting security marches, and drones are actively monitoring the crowd. These initiatives are designed to keep the protest orderly and safeguard the daily movement of commuters across the capital.
