Security Guard Witnesses Fatal Attack in East Delhi, Police Under Scrutiny

A security guard who was on duty near the Durga Temple gate in Mayur Vihar Phase‑3 recounted the brutal attack that led to a man's death early Sunday morning. The guard said two men approached the victim, threatened him, and began beating him with sticks and rods.

He tried to intervene but was forced to retreat after the assailants threatened him as well. "I saw them and realised I could not stop them without risking my own life," the guard told reporters.

The deceased, whose identity has not yet been released, is estimated to be around 40 years old. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding streets to identify the attackers and have opened a case of homicide. The incident has intensified criticism of the Delhi police from opposition parties.
