Security Forces Recover Over 20 Weapon Types and Explosives from Sukma Jungle

Security personnel operating in the forest‑covered zones of Sukma district announced the recovery of a large assortment of weaponry linked to Naxalite militants. The operation, carried out on 24 August in the Bhandarpur‑Munur‑Konda hill‑forest area, was the result of a tip-off from a surrendered insurgent.

The raid uncovered twenty‑three distinct weapons: an SLR, a .315 bore rifle, a .410 musket rifle, six BGL launchers, five 12‑bore rifles, seven pistols and several auxiliary firearms. In total, 492 live rounds for weapons such as AK‑47, SLR, INSAS, .303, .315 and 12‑bore were seized alongside a massive quantity of BGL shells, cartridges and magazines.

Explosive material seized included 240 gelatin sticks, 18 kg of gunpowder, five homemade hand grenades and an extensive inventory of BGL shells. Additional high‑risk items like accelerator plugs, tiger bombs and various commercial explosives were also confiscated.

Beyond arms and explosives, investigators recovered operational supplies used by the Naxalites: magazine pouches, BGL pouches, black uniforms, belts, capes, solar panels, utility bags, medicines and other day‑to‑day items. Police leadership confirmed that the anti‑Naxal drive will continue under the direction of senior officers to maintain law and order in the region.
