Security Forces Counter Drone Infiltration Along Jammu‑Kashmir Frontier
Jammu‑Kashmir law enforcement agencies have intensified their anti‑drone operations after a recent incident involving the aerial delivery of narcotics and a firearm. Two men were apprehended in the Arnia sector, and a cache containing heroin, opium, and a Beretta pistol with ammunition was seized.
The Ministry of Defence reported 791 drone incursions along India's western frontier in 2025, prompting the use of jammers, spoofers, and other counter‑measures to protect critical infrastructure. Security officials warned that drones are increasingly being used to transport not only drugs but also grenades, improvised explosive devices, and other small arms.
Joint patrols by the Border Security Force and the Special Operations Group have recovered additional weapon packages in Samba's Palura village, wrapped in yellow tape and believed to have been dropped from a drone. These developments have led to a permanent increase in surveillance and rapid‑response capabilities along the border.
