Security Boost Ordered Amid Rising Protests Against Trinamool MP

Amid escalating confrontations during her constituency tour, MP Mahua Moitra received a court‑mandated security upgrade on Tuesday. The Calcutta High Court ordered the West Bengal police to station two armed officers with Moitra whenever she steps into Krishna Nagar, citing recent incidents where eggs, potatoes and stones were hurled at her. Justice Sougata Bhatta‑Chary emphasized that the protection will stay in effect for a full month, with a further hearing set for October 1. Moitra blamed political adversaries for the disturbances, claiming that the attacks are an attempt to silence a sitting parliamentarian.
