Sea‑borne Narcotics Plot Targeted; 27 Packets of High‑Purity Meth Nabbed
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence acted on specific intelligence received on 16 and 17 October 2026 to intercept a maritime drug shipment off the Tamil Nadu coast. Six concealed duffel bags were recovered, each holding five‑kilogram packets of crystal meth wrapped in foil, amounting to a total of 137 kilograms.
The seized product, believed to be high‑purity methamphetamine, carries an estimated market value of over 100 crore rupees. Four members of the alleged network were arrested under the NDPS Act, 1985. Investigators say the gang planned to move the cargo from the sea to another vessel before directing it toward Sri Lanka.
In addition to the drugs, authorities recovered cash of Rs 10 lakh and three motor vehicles, further linking the suspects to the logistic chain of the smuggling operation. The successful raid underscores DRI’s ability to pre‑empt large‑scale drug trafficking through coastal routes.
