Sarma Blames Rahul Gandhi for Unstable Mood Following West Bengal, Assam, Puducherry Setbacks

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, publicly asserted that Rahul Gandhi’s mental equilibrium has been shaken after the Congress suffered defeats in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry. Speaking to the press, Sarma said the opposition leader’s recent statements betray a sense of frustration and loss of composure.

“The mental balance seems to be deteriorating,” Sarma declared, adding that the repeated electoral failures have taken a toll on Gandhi’s temperament.

The remarks were delivered amid a growing confrontation between the BJP and the Congress, with Gandhi repeatedly challenging the central government on democratic integrity, election conduct and national security. He also raised concerns about Chinese interference along the India‑China border, a claim the government has dismissed as unfounded.

Sarma’s criticism followed a “Constructive Congress National Conference” that featured Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, where he accused the Congress leadership of crossing the line of decorum and making disrespectful remarks about a foreign woman leader, potentially harming India’s diplomatic relations.
