BJP Chief Cites Sant Ravidas While Welcoming Writer Taslima Nasreen

During the press interaction, Samik Bhattacharya invoked the legacy of 15th‑century saint‑poet Sant Ravidas, describing him as a timeless champion of equality, humanity and social justice. Bhattacharya highlighted Ravidas’s stand against caste discrimination, untouchability and social inequality, noting that the saint’s teachings are enshrined in Sikh scriptures and continue to inspire inclusive societies. By linking Nasreen’s struggle for free expression with Ravidas’s fight for dignity, the BJP leader framed her Kolkata visit as a reaffirmation of the state’s commitment to universal human rights.
