Bageshwar, August 2 – Guided by Sant Niranjan Maharaj, a dedicated group of kanwariyas fulfilled a twelve‑year promise to present Sarayu water to Shiva temples on the third Monday of Shravana. Approximately 73‑80 devotees assembled at Markandey Ghat, collected the river’s holy water and began a 22‑kilometre pilgrimage to Chakreshwar Mahadev.

The ceremony starts with an offering at Baba Baghnath, proceeds to Baijnath for a second abhishek, and ends with a Rudra‑abhishek at Chakreshwar Mahadev scheduled for 4 a.m. the following day. The devotees chant “Har Har Mahadev” throughout, accompanied by drums and bhajan groups.

Local communities provide hospitality, while the administration has ensured robust security and medical support along the route. An evening bhajan‑sandhya and a community kitchen will follow the final rites.
