Sanjay Upadhyay Defends Modi Government as Congress Allegedly Supports Violent Rallies

In a recent interview, BJP lawmaker Sanjay Upadhyay defended the Modi administration against accusations that it is failing to protect citizens during the latest Mumbai demonstrations.

Upadhyay said the protests, which he described as masquerading under a student movement banner, attracted “anti‑social elements” who inflicted injuries on more than a hundred police officers and damaged police property. He argued that this indicates a broader agenda to destabilise democratic institutions.

The MLA praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for delivering consistent development across welfare, security, and economic fronts since 2014. Upadhyay noted that the continued public endorsement of Modi disproves opposition narratives aimed at removing him from power.

Turning to the Congress, Upadhyay alleged that while the party publicly distanced itself from the agitation, it quietly backed the actions to weaken the government. He claimed the opposition’s credibility has collapsed, and new political faces are being used in a futile attempt to encircle the ruling party.
