Samrat Choudhary Opens Bihar's Gaya Manufacturing Hub
Bihar has taken a significant step toward industrialisation with the launch of a planned manufacturing city in Gaya. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited at Bodh Gaya on Saturday.
The Chief Minister also marked the start of the curtain raiser for Bihar Business Connect-2027. Addressing investors and officials, he said the state is fully equipped to host industries and urged businesses to rethink their understanding of Bihar.
Spread over about 1,670 acres in Dobhi block of Gayaji, the industrial city will be developed along the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor. It is projected to attract roughly Rs 16,500 crore in investment and support about 1.10 lakh employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister released the official emblem of the project and launched its dedicated website. He described the initiative as part of a new phase in Bihar's journey toward industrial investment, strong infrastructure and job creation. The state aims to build a supportive climate for investors so that young people can find work close to home.
He noted that the government's priority is execution, not just agreements on paper. Investment proposals, he said, must be converted into real production and employment. Acquisition of roughly 13,500 acres for industrial and infrastructure use is under way and is expected to conclude by January.
To widen private participation, the government will push the public-private partnership model. The Chief Minister pointed to a major beverage bottling unit already set up in Bihar and a steel plant currently being established.
With Gaya and Bodh Gaya's religious and cultural significance in mind, the government plans to develop townships and heritage centres named after Magadh. These projects are expected to strengthen tourism, local livelihoods and overall economic activity.
The Chief Minister also referred to proposed air links between Gaya and Dubai as well as Kathmandu, and to greater air connectivity for Bhagalpur, Sonpur and other places. He highlighted strong investment potential in steel, textiles, food processing, semiconductors, electronics, electric vehicles, automobile manufacturing and biofuels.
Appealing to Biharis living abroad, he asked them to remain connected to their homeland and support its industrial growth. He said the Bihar Foundation links the state with people across 55 countries. Industries Department Secretary Kundan Kumar confirmed that Bihar Business Connect-2027 will be held on February 17 and 18, 2027.
Among those present were Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Assembly Speaker Dr. Prem Kumar, Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh, various public representatives, officials and foreign delegates.
