Samajwadi Party Wins Varanasi Teacher Seat by 5,015 Votes
Varanasi, October 28: In a significant result for the Samajwadi Party, Lal Bihari Yadav has secured the Varanasi Khand Teacher seat in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council for the second time in a row. He won the contest against the Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Pramod Mishra by 5,015 votes.
Soon after the result was declared, Samajwadi Party workers and supporters began celebrating across the constituency. Sweets were shared, party slogans rang out, and supporters danced to the sound of drums and dhols. The festivities continued well into the night as congratulatory messages were exchanged.
The final count recorded 11,612 votes for Lal Bihari Yadav and 6,597 votes for Dr. Pramod Mishra. Party supporters described the outcome as a strong endorsement of the SP's work on teacher-related matters.
Addressing the media after his victory, Yadav thanked Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party. He attributed the win to Akhilesh Yadav's policies and to the effort to raise issues of teachers prominently. Among the matters he cited were the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, honorarium for non-funded teachers, service conditions for teachers in aided and government schools, and honorarium concerns in minority schools and madrasas. He also described the opposition to semester-based examinations in degree colleges as a crucial issue for teachers.
Yadav said his margin of victory had grown from about one thousand votes in the last election to more than five thousand votes this time. According to him, the result reflects the rising trust of teachers in both the party and himself.
He expressed the hope that Akhilesh Yadav would become Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh once again and find solutions to the problems faced by teachers. He said the SP government was standing with teachers, which was why voters had elected him for a second time. He promised to work as soon as possible to deliver on the commitments he had made to them.
