Samajwadi Party Backs Tajín Fatima’s Plea to Save Jauhar University

RAMPUR, August 18 — The Samajwadi Party has openly backed Tajín Fatima’s request that the government withdraw the demolition notice for Jauhar University. In a briefing with IANS, Fatima stressed that the institution enjoys wide public backing and that the decision to raze it runs counter to the nation’s educational priorities.

She noted that various sections of society, irrespective of caste or creed, have aligned themselves with the university’s cause, lending their voices against the demolition order. "The state should focus on developing and strengthening its colleges, not on dismantling them," she said.

Fatima also raised issues concerning the marginalisation of Muslim leadership, claiming that some external Muslim figures are deliberately weakening local representation. She lamented the shift in political culture from respectful discourse to personal and sectarian hostility.

The family’s hardships were also brought to light. With both her husband and son incarcerated, Fatima said they are being denied basic medical facilities and proper bedding in prison, despite having submitted medical reports to the authorities.

She concluded by affirming the Samajwadi Party’s unwavering solidarity with her family and thanked party chief Akhilesh Yadav for his continued assistance.
