Salve Warns Against Undermining Constitutional Bodies Amid Political Rhetoric

Addressing the Congress party’s repeated challenges to the Election Commission and the courts, Salve cautioned against eroding constitutional institutions for short‑term political gain. He noted that India has seen successive governments, and the electorate ultimately decides which party will govern.

According to Salve, weakening institutions such as the judiciary, legislature, elected executive, and the Election Commission jeopardises the balance of power enshrined in the constitution. He warned that if a party in power starts questioning the legitimacy of these bodies, democratic debate turns into a binary contest of "my truth versus your truth."

Salve urged all political actors to respect the separation of powers and to keep the public’s confidence in democratic institutions intact.
