Saharsa Railway Security Foils Drug and Alcohol Trafficking via Express Trains

Railway security forces in Saharsa executed two distinct operations on Monday, targeting the smuggling of narcotics and foreign spirits. The first operation focused on the State Rani Express (train 15509) after a suspicious unattended bag was reported. A thorough search of coach D-04 uncovered 14.02 kilograms of cannabis, which was confiscated and turned over to the excise department. The seized drug was valued at roughly ₹7 lakh.

The second operation stemmed from a tip received by the Samastipur Crime Intelligence Branch concerning the Vaishali Express (train 15566). RPF escort teams, stationed between Manasi and Lalitgram, inspected the roof of general coach 255975/C. Inside an electric box, they found 25 bottles of Royal Stag liquor, amounting to 18.75 liters and worth about ₹25,000. The liquor was also handed to the excise department for further action.

Both seizures, together worth an estimated ₹7.25 lakh, highlight the RPF’s intensified monitoring of railway routes to curb the illegal movement of drugs and alcohol.
