Safety advisory issued ahead of Independence Day for kite enthusiasts

In anticipation of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15, DMRC has appealed to the public to fly kites only in designated open spaces, far from the elevated tracks. The advisory points out that the metro’s overhead equipment carries a constant 25,000‑volt charge, and any direct or indirect contact could be fatal.

The corporation stresses that adhering to the advisory will help maintain uninterrupted train services throughout the holiday period. By keeping kites away from the metro’s electrical equipment, commuters, staff, and kite flyers can all stay safe.
