Sadar Bazaar Tragedy: Child Abduction and Sexual Violence Leads to Arrest

A harrowing crime unfolded in Delhi’s Sadar Bazaar on the night of September 16. A teenage girl left her home to purchase school supplies and was enticed by a man inside a nearby shop. The assailant bound her hands and feet, then subjected her to rape.

The Delhi police received a distress call and arrived swiftly with teams from the local police outpost and the Women’s Police Station. An FIR was lodged under sections dealing with kidnapping, rape and illegal confinement.

The suspect, a 56‑year‑old named Maksood, was arrested on the spot and placed under judicial custody. The police have stressed that the investigation is being conducted with full sensitivity, reflecting the department’s pledge to act decisively on crimes against minors.

This case follows another recent atrocity in North Delhi where a 17‑year‑old girl was brutally attacked and killed, underscoring the growing concern over safety for women and children in the capital.
