Rupi Soren, wife of veteran leader Shibu Soren, passes away at 80

Rupi Soren, the spouse of Jharkhand freedom fighter Shibu Soren, succumbed to illness at Hill View Hospital in Ranchi. The 80‑year‑old had been receiving treatment for a chronic condition and was on a ventilator when her health sharply declined.

Her death adds to a series of personal blows for Hemant Soren, who lost his father, a prominent movement figure, a year earlier. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha described Rupi as a symbol of perseverance, sacrifice and patience, noting that she continued to support her husband's causes even after his demise.
