When Rahul Gandhi accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of attempting to rewrite history, Sukdev Bhagat echoed the criticism, describing the organization as still haunted by low self‑esteem. He recalled the role of the RSS during the freedom struggle, noting its alignment with British forces during the Quit India movement and alleged involvement in the aftermath of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. Bhagat emphasized that the RSS has never hoisted the national flag at its headquarters nor fully embraced the Constitution, calling for an honest appraisal of its past.
