RSS Chief’s Remarks on Reservation Spark Further Political Tension

Following a meeting with General Category (GEN) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) leaders, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat hinted at abandoning the benefits of reservation for these groups. Congress spokesperson Nasim Khan questioned why the RSS needed to consult these communities, suggesting fear within the BJP‑RSS alliance.

Khan warned that the government’s recent decisions jeopardise the future of deserving students, GEN and OBC youths. He said protests have erupted across many states, with young people taking to the streets demanding policy reversal. According to Khan, the centre is now anxious about the 34‑35 crore GEN and OBC voters who will decide the 2029 elections, fearing a shift in its political ground.
