Rs 25K Reward Fugitive Held in Noida, Knife Also Seized
A fugitive wanted with a reward of Rs 25,000 has been arrested in Noida after evading police for close to a year. The arrest was made by Phase-2 police station in Gautam Buddh Nagar during an ongoing drive against criminal elements.
On October 22, police acted on information gathered through manual intelligence and confidential sources. The information pointed to the accused's location in D-Block of Sector-80, where the arrest was carried out.
The accused has been named as Mohammad Shadab alias Sonu alias Shamshad. An illegal knife was also found in his possession at the time of arrest.
Police said he had been declared wanted in a case under the NDPS Act registered at Phase-2 police station. He had remained out of reach for roughly a year, prompting the announcement of a Rs 25,000 reward for his arrest. Police teams had been actively searching for him.
According to the police, Shadab has been involved in criminal activities and is accused of taking part in ganja smuggling incidents across the Delhi-NCR region.
With the knife recovered during the arrest, a separate case has been registered against him under the Arms Act. Officials say he had been avoiding arrest in the NDPS matter for a long period.
Police records describe Shadab as the son of Raheesuddin, a resident of Islam Nagar in the Khatauli police station area of Muzaffarnagar district. He is around 34 years of age and has studied up to the ninth class.
Two cases are registered against him at Phase-2 police station in Gautam Buddh Nagar. The first, case number 415/2025, falls under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act and is the case in which he was wanted. The second, case number 489/2026, is registered under Sections 4/25 of the Arms Act and concerns the illegal knife recovered from him.
The seized knife is now in police custody, and legal proceedings have begun. Police said further action will be taken based on the official records and the registered cases.
