In a major breakthrough for Bihar’s law and order machinery, Saharsa police on Tuesday cuffed Rahul Singh, a Rs 25,000 bounty fugitive linked to loot, Arms Act breaches, and violent assaults. The capture underscores the relentless pursuit of wanted criminals plaguing the district.
SP Himanshu detailed the operation, noting continuous drives against absconders. Singh’s long criminal ledger includes more than 12 grave offenses, painting him as a persistent threat to public safety.
The chain of events traces back to a shocking incident in Mahishi thana area, where Singh and his gang invaded a home, beat up residents, unleashed gunfire to spread panic, and vowed to eliminate the complainant. Post-incident, he went underground, constantly relocating to dodge arrest.
Recognizing the case’s severity, a specialized squad was assembled, led by the Sadar SDO, with inputs from intelligence wing and local police. Through meticulous analysis of digital footprints and informant tips, they zeroed in on his Mahpura village hideout.
Singh, hailing from the same village, was nabbed red-handed. His dossier reveals entanglements in prohibition violations alongside Arms Act and murder attempt charges. Police are now grilling him intensively, aiming to dismantle his syndicate and prevent future rampages.
This high-profile arrest boosts morale among officers and reassures citizens that justice is proactive. As investigations deepen, more revelations about Singh’s underworld connections are expected, fortifying Saharsa’s fight against crime.
